We provide expert environmental advice across terrestrial, marine and coastal environments, supporting projects through environmental assessment, approvals, management and delivery.
Capabilities
Environmental Approvals & Regulatory Strategy
We develop and navigate State and Commonwealth approval pathways for complex projects. Our advice covers regulatory strategy, approvals planning, agency engagement, statutory documentation and the integration of approvals with project design and delivery.
Environmental Impact Assessment
We lead environmental impact assessments from early scoping through to approval. This includes defining assessment requirements, coordinating multidisciplinary specialist studies, evaluating impacts and preparing clear, defensible environmental assessment documentation.
Route, Site & Corridor Selection
We help project teams identify and compare suitable routes, sites and corridors. Our approach integrates environmental, heritage, land, social and engineering constraints through spatial analysis, multi-criteria assessment and transparent decision-making.
Environmental Management & Compliance
We translate approval requirements into practical environmental management systems, plans, controls and contract requirements. Our advice supports compliance, construction readiness, risk management, assurance and effective environmental performance throughout project delivery.
Sustainability & ESG
We help organisations embed sustainability and ESG principles into project governance, design and delivery. Our capabilities include sustainability strategies, performance frameworks, Infrastructure Sustainability Council ratings and practical initiatives aligned with project and organisational objectives.
Marine & Coastal Advisory
Drawing on specialist expertise in marine ecotoxicology and environmental science, we advise on marine and coastal impact assessment, water quality, discharges, monitoring strategies and regulatory requirements for complex coastal and marine developments.
Trust OceanEdge to deliver comprehensive solutions that safeguard the health of marine and terrestrial ecosystems while ensuring regulatory compliance and sustainable practices.
Environmental Approvals & Strategy
We define and navigate State and Commonwealth approval pathways, helping complex projects manage regulatory risk, maintain momentum and make defensible decisions.
For both the Office for Northern Water Delivery and ElectraNet’s Northern Transmission Project, we have led the environmental impact assessment process for major infrastructure proposals involving complex terrestrial, marine and social considerations.
Our role has included establishing approvals strategies, defining assessment scope and requirements, coordinating environmental referrals and assessment documentation, and managing multidisciplinary technical studies. We work closely with regulators, project teams and specialist consultants to ensure the assessment process remains aligned with design development and the wider project programme.
We also lead the integration of technical findings into clear and defensible impact assessments. This includes identifying material risks, evaluating project alternatives, developing mitigation measures and supporting regulatory and stakeholder engagement.
By managing the process from early strategy through to assessment and approvals, we help project teams understand their obligations, resolve issues early and maintain a clear pathway through complex regulatory frameworks.
Environmental Management
We develop and implement practical environmental management systems, plans and controls that support compliance, reduce risk and work effectively in the field.
Our experience spans environmental management across planning, construction and operational environments. We work with project teams to translate approval conditions, environmental commitments and technical recommendations into clear management plans, procedures and site-based controls.
During construction, we support the implementation and ongoing delivery of environmental management plans. This includes field-based environmental management, contractor coordination, inspections, incident response, compliance monitoring, reporting and advice on emerging environmental risks.
We also review and improve organisational environmental management systems, including their alignment with ISO 14001 principles and the connection between corporate requirements and project-level delivery. Our work helps identify gaps, clarify responsibilities and strengthen governance, assurance and continual improvement.
By combining strategic oversight with practical delivery experience, we develop environmental management frameworks that are proportionate, defensible and suited to the realities of complex infrastructure projects.
Sustainability & ESG
We integrate sustainability into project planning, assessment and delivery, helping projects establish practical objectives and measurable outcomes from the outset.
We develop sustainability management plans and frameworks aligned with Infrastructure Sustainability Council requirements and broader organisational ESG objectives. Our approach establishes clear priorities, responsibilities and performance measures that can be carried through design, procurement and delivery.
During project planning and environmental impact assessment, we review assessment scopes and technical work packages to ensure they capture the information needed to support sustainability objectives and relevant Infrastructure Sustainability rating credits.
This early alignment helps reduce gaps, avoid duplicated work and create a stronger evidence base for future sustainability reporting and assurance. It also allows sustainability considerations to inform option selection, design development and procurement decisions when they can have the greatest influence.
By integrating sustainability requirements from the planning stage, we help projects move beyond high-level commitments and establish a practical foundation for delivering environmental, social and governance outcomes.
Marine & Coastal
We provide technically rigorous marine and coastal advice, with specialist expertise in marine ecotoxicology, water quality and the assessment of complex marine infrastructure.
Our marine and coastal services are led by Dr Antony Lockyer, who holds a PhD in Marine Ecotoxicology and has extensive experience assessing the potential effects of major infrastructure and industrial developments on marine receiving environments.
We advise on marine water quality, contaminant pathways, toxicity, desalination discharges and the interpretation of hydrodynamic and dispersion modelling. Our work considers how discharge characteristics interact with site-specific conditions, including background water quality and the sensitivity of marine receptors.
For the Northern Water Project, we led the marine impact assessment for a proposed 260 ML per day desalination plant in the Spencer Gulf. This involved coordinating specialist investigations and integrating technical findings within the Gulf’s reverse-estuary environment, where naturally elevated salinity and restricted water exchange create a complex assessment context.
We translate detailed scientific evidence into clear impact conclusions, monitoring requirements, mitigation measures and management controls. This provides project teams, regulators and stakeholders with a defensible understanding of marine risks and how they can be effectively managed.
